Reconstitution of Innate and Adaptive CMV Immunity in Recipients of Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant
Principal Investigator: Peter A. McSweeney, MD
Protocol Number: RMBMT-118
Major Objectives
- To establish immune correlates with protection against CMV reactivation in allogeneic bone marrow transplant recipients.
- To compare CMV cell-mediated immunity of full allogeneic transplant recipients with that patients treated with a nonmyeloablative preparative regimen.
- To compare CMV immune reconstitution in pediatric vs. adult allogeneic transplant recipients.
- To evaluate the effect of donor CMV-specific immune function on CMV-specific immune reconstitution in the recipient
Patient Selection
Inclusion Criteria:
- Recipients and donors of allogeneic marrow or PBPCs.
- Recipient or donor must have positive antibody test for CMV prior to transplantation.
- Patients must be enrolled within 6 months of transplant.
Exclusion Criteria:
There are no major exclusion criteria for patients who meet the above inclusion criteria. Patients should not have had prior CMV reactivation. We will not include pregnant women, patients with mental disability, or prisoners.
