Peter A. McSweeney, MD |
Peter McSweeney, MD, joined the Rocky Mountain Blood and Marrow Transplant Program in 2004. Dr. McSweeney is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and hematopathology.
Dr. McSweeney hails from New Zealand. He earned his medical degree at the University of Otago Medical School in Dunedin, New Zealand. He completed his internal medicine residency and fellowships in oncology/hematology and clinical hematology and hematopathology at Wellington Public Hospital in New Zealand.
Dr. McSweeney then came to the United States, completing fellowships in clinical hematology, hematopathology and oncology at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
After finishing his fellowships, Dr. McSweeney worked in clinical research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for seven years. During this time, he also served as an instructor in medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine where he became an assistant professor of medicine.
Dr. McSweeney was the clinical director and laboratory medical director at the University of Colorado’s Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. Dr. McSweeney has been published numerous times and won many awards for his work in blood and marrow transplantation.
