Volunteering

You Can Make a Difference

Our BMT volunteers are a vital resource for patients and their caregivers going through the transplant process. As someone who has gone through the transplant process, transplant volunteers provide reassurance, comfort and hope. Transplant patients and their caregivers benefit from volunteers' knowledge and past experiences, and the understanding of someone who has gone down a similar road in life.

If you are interested in becoming a BMT volunteer please review the list of qualifications listed below. In addition you will need to fill out the attached Volunteer Application. If you or your loved one received their transplant at a different BMT Program, please send the Reference Check form to an appropriate reference at that program.
  1. You must have had a personal experience with a BMT Transplant either as a patient or a caregiver.
  2. You must be at least 1 year out from your transplant.
  3. You will need to provide a qualified reference if the transplant was received at a different program.
  4. You must be willing to provide a 6-month commitment to the volunteer program.
  5. You will require an interview with the BMT Program’s Psychologist.
  6. You will be required to take a TB test.
  7. Background checks are also required of anyone 18 or older to be involved in the volunteer program.

Once our Program Psychologist receives your BMT Volunteer Application and the Volunteer Reference Check, if applicable, she will contact you to schedule an interview.

Thank you for making a difference.
